Spoiler Alert: This article contains full spoilers for One Piece Episode 1166.
Episode 1166 opens with the Straw Hats and the Giants still in the middle of a massive celebration. Everyone is still partying after everything that’s happened, with the whole place full of noise and energy. Each Straw Hat gets small moments during the celebration, just reacting and enjoying things in their own way.
Inside the castle, Gunko and Shamrock are still there after taking down the two giant guards. The situation there stays tense while the outside celebration continues.
If you’re confused, Episode 1165 explains what led to this moment.
Zoro Reminds Road What Almost Happened

Road apologizes to the Straw Hats for what happened earlier. Zoro brushes it off, saying it’s fine since nobody died. But he also warns that if Usopp hadn’t told them not to fight back, things would’ve gone differently and Road’s head would’ve been rolling. This immediately startles him.
The other Giants start mocking Road for not even knowing their bounties. During the conversation, Road also brings up something deeper about Elbaph. He says that many Giants share the dream of becoming the Sun God and ruling the world.
The Sun God Debate Among the Giants

The Giants try to debate and define what the Sun God actually represents:
- The Sun God is a ruler
- He is a god of liberation
- A god of destruction
- A god of laughter
- He is a god of dominion
The discussion quickly turns into disagreement, with no clear answer among them. Luffy then asks Jarul about the Sun God. Luffy says it sometimes reminds people of him, but he immediately clarifies that it has nothing to do with him.
Luffy Brings Up Loki as the Giants React Instantly

Luffy asks Jarul if Loki is actually a good guy, but all the Giants immediately shut it down and say no. They start talking about what happened in the past, saying Loki killed King Harald. They also mention that the queen died just one year after giving birth to him. Because of this, everyone speaks badly about Loki and sees him as a problem.
When Shanks gets mentioned, Luffy reacts right away. He’s excited to hear that Shanks was the one who captured Loki six years ago.
Luffy then asks where Shanks is now. The Giants say he was there not long ago, but they don’t know where he is at the moment.
Luffy Sneaks Off for Loki’s Key as Zoro and Nami Follow
Goldberg asks Luffy where he’s going, and Luffy casually says he’s just going to get some meat. At the same time, he makes that obvious lying face, while Goldberg is actually holding a meat.
No one really questions it, but Zoro immediately notices something’s off and decides to follow him. Zoro stops Luffy and asks what he’s really doing. Luffy then tells him everything about Loki, including the deal that if he brings the key, Loki will reveal the truth about Shanks.
Zoro points out that Loki is hated across the entire country and warns that he might just be manipulating Luffy. But at the same time, Zoro doesn’t fully buy into the reputation alone. He admits he hasn’t met Loki himself, so he decides to come along, knowing Luffy might do something reckless if left alone.
Nami shows up during this and asks if they know where the key is. She ends up joining them, along with Road, to help find it.
They all agree to get the key first and decide what to do once they’re face-to-face with Loki, whether he’s telling the truth or not. Road reveals that the key is inside the castle, so they all head there together.
Gunko and Shamrock Try to Recruit Loki to Join the Knights of God
Gunko and Shamrock approach Loki and try to recruit him into the Knights of God. Loki immediately laughs at the offer and refuses without hesitation. He calls the idea insulting, saying they expect him to waste his one precious life becoming their tool.
Gunko then attacks using her ability, creating powerful arrow-like constructs aimed at Loki. Loki’s wolf companion tries to step in and help, but it gets restrained and choked by one of Gunko’s arrow-shaped attacks.
Shamrock then uses the situation to pressure Loki, blackmailing him by saying they will release his wolf friend if he agrees to join them.
Loki still refuses. He says this is simply the wolf’s fate, and that a warrior should not make a scene over a final moment. Instead of backing down, Loki shows no hesitation and says he will feed on that rage and use it to destroy the world.
Final Thoughts
Episode 1166 continues building tension in Elbaph while mixing it with a rare celebration between the Straw Hats and the Giants. Meanwhile, the castle side stays focused on Gunko, Shamrock, and Loki as things escalate. It also expands the Sun God mystery, showing how divided the Giants are on what it actually represents, while Luffy once again gets loosely connected to the idea, even if he denies it.
Key moments include:
- Zoro warns Road about what would have happened if Usopp hadn’t stopped him
- The Giants are debating what the Sun God actually represents
- Loki’s past being revealed and his reputation as a killer
- Luffy, Zoro, Nami, and Road are moving toward the castle to find the key
- Gunko and Shamrock are confronting Loki and attempting to recruit him to become a member of the Knights of God
This episode leaves several unanswered questions going forward. Is Loki really as good or as bad as the Giants make him out to be? Why is the Sun God so deeply rooted in Elbaph’s culture, and why do the interpretations of it differ so much between the Giants? Another major mystery is Shanks’ connection to Loki and what really happened six years ago. On top of that, Gunko and Shamrock’s real objective is still unclear, whether Loki is simply being targeted for recruitment or if there is something much deeper tied to the Knights of God and Elbaph itself.
The preview for Episode 1167 shows Luffy, Zoro, Nami, and Road inside the castle, with Road looking visibly terrified, hinting that they may have already come across something unexpected. Elsewhere, Gunko and Shamrock continue their attack on Loki, who is seen bleeding heavily, showing that the situation has escalated far beyond negotiation.
