Spoiler Alert: This article contains full spoilers for One Piece Episode 1165.
Episode 1165 opens inside the Owl Library, where Chopper and Jewelry Bonney are seen reading the massive books. Surrounded by knowledge that was once thought to be completely lost, the scene continues to highlight the emotional weight of Robin finally seeing her homeland’s research survive. During this moment, the episode introduces Biblo, the owl librarian who has been watching over the library for hundreds of years. It is revealed that Biblo may have eaten a Devil Fruit, most likely the Grow-Grow Fruit, which allows objects to increase in size.
If you missed Episode 1164, it covers the events leading directly into this moment.
Luffy and Usopp Play with the Giant Kids at the School
The episode begins with Luffy and Usopp spending time with the giant children, enjoying playful activities like swinging. This moment shows a lighter side of Elbaph, where the Straw Hats are able to interact freely with the younger generation. Unlike the older giants who were raised with a warrior mindset, these children are being brought up differently. They are taught to value peace and kindness instead of war, marking a clear shift in how Elbaph is shaping its future.
Things take a sudden turn when Colon arrives at the school, visibly excited to meet Luffy. In his excitement, he immediately attacks him, but Luffy easily blocks it without effort. Luffy then counters using Gear Third, sending an attack that lands beside Colon and destroys part of the ground without harming him. While most of the children are shocked and see Luffy as frightening, Colon reacts differently. Instead of fear, he is filled with excitement, clearly impressed by Luffy’s strength. This sets him apart from the others and highlights his more aggressive, warrior-like nature.
Because of this behavior, Colon is shown to be somewhat isolated from the other children, who seem uncomfortable with his violent tendencies. It reflects the ongoing tension between Elbaph’s old warrior traditions and its new peaceful direction.
Ripley steps in and scolds Colon, though she also acknowledges that his attack showed real potential and good form. It is then revealed that Ripley is his mother, adding more depth to their relationship.
Colon is also introduced as a half-human, half-giant child. His father is a human pirate who is rumored to have been stronger than even the giants themselves, raising a mystery about his identity and past.
This also brings up another question: how is it even possible for a giant to have a child with a human in the first place? Who is this man, and how could someone like him reach that level of strength against giants? It also leaves fans wondering whether he is already a known figure in the story or a completely new character yet to be revealed.
As the situation settles, Luffy and the others begin to feel hungry and decide to head toward the village, where a banquet awaits them.
Crew Heads to the Library Before the Banquet

The Straw Hat crew heads to the Owl Library to inform Robin, Chopper, Bonney, Lilith, and the others that they are going to the village to eat and join a banquet since they are getting hungry after exploring Elbaph.
However, Robin decides to stay behind a little longer with Saul, wanting to catch up with him after so many years apart. Saul explains that the banquets in Elbaph usually last for three days, so there is no rush, and they will have plenty of time to enjoy it later together. Chopper, Bonney, and Lilith also choose to stay in the library as they continue reading the massive collection of books preserved from Ohara, showing their curiosity about the knowledge stored there.
Franky also decides to remain behind, as he becomes deeply interested in the giant Adam Tree. This is the same legendary wood he once used as inspiration for building the Thousand Sunny. The Adam Tree is widely believed to be one of the strongest and most durable types of wood in the world, making it extremely valuable for shipbuilding and explaining Franky’s fascination with it.
Before the crew leaves, Gerd asks a small favor. She offers to dress a few of them in traditional Elbaph clothing as part of her hobby of making clothes for humans.
The four who receive Elbaph-style outfits from Gerd are:
- Nico Robin
- Brook
- Jinbe
- Franky
Since Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Usopp, and Nami were already wearing Elbaph outfits earlier, only these four are newly dressed by Gerd. After this, the crew finally heads toward the village to join the banquet and continue their time in Elbaph.
Banquet Begins in the Village

Everyone in the village is now gathered as the banquet begins, with the giants celebrating alongside the Straw Hats. The atmosphere is full of food, laughter, and shared stories as the giants start recalling how the Straw Hats have helped them throughout their journey.
The giants take turns sharing their experiences and how the crew has changed their lives:
- Dorry and Brogy talk about how the Straw Hats helped them during the events in Little Garden, where their legendary duel and friendship were rediscovered.
- Oimo and Kashii recall how they were freed and reunited with their captains after years of being deceived while guarding the Enies Lobby/Gate of Justice.
- Stansen is remembered from the Sabaody Archipelago incident, where the Straw Hats’ actions indirectly played a role in the chaos and aftermath of the crew’s separation.
- Hajrudin speaks proudly about Dressrosa, where the Straw Hats helped bring down Doflamingo, including Usopp’s key moment when he defeated Sugar and broke the toy manipulation that controlled many lives.
As each story is shared, it becomes clear how deeply the Straw Hats have impacted the world and the giants, specifically, building a strong bond between them and Elbaph. The banquet continues with even more celebration as both sides recognize the history they now share together.
Chief Jarul Arrives at the Banquet

Chief Jarul arrives at the village banquet after hearing that important guests have come to Elbaph. “Mountain Beard” Jarul is a giant and former co-captain of the Giant Warrior Pirates, alongside Jorul. Together, they are known as legendary heroes of the giants, and after Jorul’s death, Jarul became the oldest living giant in the world.
Luffy is suddenly shocked after noticing something strange about Jarul, pointing out that the old giant appears to have a sword sticking out of his head. Jarul calmly explains that despite the wound, his helmet saved his life, even though the blade went all the way through.
Shamrock and Gunko Appear in Elbaph Seeking Loki
Inside the castle, two unknown figures are seen confronting the giants. They are searching for Loki, but the giants immediately refuse to cooperate. They explain that Loki is being held because he was involved in the death of King Harald, and freeing him would put the entire kingdom at risk.
Without warning, one of Gunko’s abilities activates, and the nearby giant suddenly collapses to the ground. The exact nature of her power is still unclear, but the effect suggests a form of overwhelming control or force that can instantly suppress or incapacitate targets without physical contact.
Gunko then reinforces that she is not asking anymore, she is issuing orders, showing a complete shift in dominance within the castle.
As for Loki, the intent of these mysterious visitors becomes more concerning. Their direct demand for him suggests that:
- Loki may be their primary target for interrogation or execution
- He could possess information tied to Elbaph’s history or King Harald’s death
- Or his existence may be connected to a larger World Government objective that has not yet been revealed
At this point, their true goal remains unknown, but their actions strongly imply that Loki is central to whatever mission they are carrying out in Elbaph.
Final Thoughts
Episode 1165 focuses on the Straw Hats interacting with the giant children in Elbaph, the continued discoveries inside the Owl Library with Biblo and Ohara’s preserved knowledge, and the introduction of Colon’s background as a half-human, half-giant tied to a mysterious pirate father, while also building toward the growing tension in the castle as Shamrock and Gunko arrive and begin targeting Loki.
Key moments include:
- Colon is revealed as a half-human, half-giant child
- Ripley is introduced as Colon’s mother and confirms that his human pirate father may be stronger than the giants
- Chief Jarul’s arrival, revealing his legendary status and the sword embedded in his head
- Shamrock and Gunko arrive at the castle and immediately demand Loki’s location
This episode raises several unanswered questions moving forward. What is Shamrock and Gunko’s real objective with Loki, and why is he such an important target that they are willing to use force immediately upon arrival? Does Loki hold secrets tied to King Harald’s death, or is he connected to something much larger within Elbaph’s history? Another major mystery is Colon’s father. Who is this human pirate strong enough to be compared to giants themselves, and is he already a known figure in the story or someone yet to be revealed?
The preview for Episode 1166 shows the banquet still ongoing as the giants and Straw Hats continue celebrating, unaware of what is happening elsewhere in Elbaph, while Shamrock and Gunko are seen moving through the snow toward Loki’s location. They eventually arrive face-to-face with Loki, where a direct conversation begins, and surprisingly, Loki is shown laughing loudly without any fear or tension. The preview also reveals more of Gunko’s ability, showing an arrow-like manifestation that suggests a ranged or force-based attack.
