Classroom of the Elite Season 4 Episode 10 – Nanase’s Actions Raise Questions as the Mid-Game Begins

Spoiler Alert: This article contains full spoilers for Classroom of the Elite Season 4 Episode 10.

Episode 10 opens at the F8 area, where Kiyotaka Ayanokōji, Tsubasa Nanase, and Ken Sudō take on a quiz challenge together. The topic is an anime category, specifically a series called Mobile Servant Bomdam — something the others recognize, but something Ayanokōji knows nothing about.

If you want to know how things ended up here, Episode 9 is where it all starts, so you might want to check it first.

Ken Sudō’s group takes first place in the anime quiz challenge

Ken Sudō’s group gets first place in the anime category quiz. Meanwhile, Nanase and Ayanokōji talk, and the conversation shifts to Ike, who has been acting unusually down. Nanase wonders if he might be sick, but Ayanokōji says it doesn’t seem to be physical. Even so, Ayanokōji quietly shows concern — but immediately follows it up by saying he doesn’t have time to worry about others. At the same time, the announcement for the 4th designated area is about to begin.

Ayanokōji then tries to ask Nanase to check her tablet. He expects her to refuse, but she agrees without hesitation. This confirms something in his mind — they are most likely assigned to the same table. Soon after, the challenges are revealed to be spawning around G8 and G9, and Ayanokōji decides they will set up at H9.

Sudō overhears this and points out that since it’s also their designated area, they might as well meet up later.

H9 Area: Ike Reveals His Hidden Feelings for Shinohara

Kiyotaka Ayanokōji’s group ends up spending time together around a bonfire-like setup in the middle of their camp. The group consists of Ken Sudō, Ryōtarō Hondō, Kanji Ike, Tsubasa Nanase, and Ayanokōji himself.

While they talk casually about their class and the situation on the island, Hondō eventually notices that Ike hasn’t been acting like himself. He asks him directly if he’s okay, pointing out how unusually down he has been since the start of the test.

At first, Ike brushes it off and insists that nothing is wrong. But after some time, he finally gives in and opens up.

He admits that there’s someone he has liked for a long time — Satsuki Shinohara, one of their classmates from Class 2-D. He explains that at first, he didn’t like her and even tried to act like he didn’t care about her at all. But over time, those feelings changed, even if he never said it out loud.

Ike also mentions that Shinohara is part of Kyōgo Komiya’s group, and that he believes she might also have some feelings toward him. However, because he never dared to be honest, things eventually escalated into an argument between them.

Nanase then steps in and gives her perspective, saying she doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with how Ike feels. She adds that Shinohara might actually be waiting for Ike to make a move, wanting him to be more open instead of holding everything back. According to Nanase, it could be that Shinohara wants to feel like she matters to him.

As the conversation continues, the mood becomes more emotional, and Nanase even ends up tearing up while talking about feelings and human connection.

After everything is said, Ike starts to calm down. He admits that, in the end, none of it really matters unless he survives the special test. The emotional weight seems to lift slightly after the discussion.

Day 3 Begins: Nanase Questions What She Said About Ike

On Day 3, Nanase visits Ayanokōji inside his tent to check if he is awake. She brings up what happened the night before and asks if she may have gone too far with her words toward Ike. Ayanokōji responds that her comments actually helped Ike more than anything, saying it seemed to reinvigorate him and that he would likely be grateful for it. Nanase still feels uncertain, admitting that she might have pushed him too hard and worries about whether she made things worse for him. She then mentions the possibility of not being able to stay with the group moving forward, but Ayanokōji tells her that if they arrange a meeting point in advance, they can still regroup later. Nanase thanks him, and after that, the group prepares to split up.

But are Nanase’s actions genuine? If she truly cannot forgive Ayanokōji, why does she keep staying close to him, showing concern for his group, and even relying on his judgment in situations like this? Is her worry about Ike real, or is this still part of a longer plan — one where she maintains proximity to Ayanokōji while observing him under the guise of cooperation?

J6 Area: Nanase Enters the Beach Flag Challenge

At the J6 area, Nanase and Ayanokōji arrive at the registration point for a challenge, but there is only one available slot left in the women’s event. As a result, Nanase decides to take part in the challenge while Ayanokōji takes a short break nearby. The event turns out to be a beach flag competition held along the shore, where participants compete in speed and reaction to grab the flag first. During the challenge, Nanase can be seen in a swimsuit as she competes, while Ayanokōji observes from a distance.

While Nanase is participating, Ayanokōji is called by President Miyabi Nagumo. Nagumo tells him that taking a break at this stage is important, adding that things won’t truly start to escalate until tomorrow. He hints that tomorrow is where the mid-game begins, with the announcement of the top 10 and bottom 10 groups. He also states that he will personally step in if any non-third-year groups manage to enter the top 3.

After the talk, Ayanokōji comments that Nanase won the challenge easily. Nanase then asks him why he chooses to work alone, saying she doesn’t see the benefit in it. Ayanokōji agrees that there are disadvantages, but also points out that there are hidden advantages, especially when dealing with groups under pressure who are struggling with their game points. He also suggests that Nanase might simply be overestimating him, or that he just hasn’t found a suitable group to join.

Their conversation shifts into a brief discussion about how people can change depending on situations and events that affect them. After that, both of them take a short break — Nanase rests, while Ayanokōji moves on to another nearby challenge.

Ayanokōji Joins the Challenge and Dominates the History Quiz

Ayanokōji officially registers for the next challenge and ends up meeting Masumi Kamuro and Masayoshi Hashimoto, who are also taking part. Hashimoto brings up Ayanokōji’s points, suggesting he should already be sitting on a high total at this stage. Ayanokōji responds casually, saying he wouldn’t be surprised if he were actually in the bottom 10. Hashimoto disagrees and says he fully expects him to be in the top 10 instead.

Hashimoto also mentions that he’s relieved the challenge isn’t math this time, since Ayanokōji previously achieved a perfect score among the second years, making it clear that people already assume math is his only strong subject. The challenge is then revealed to be a history quiz. After it begins, Ayanokōji still manages to secure first place, surprising Hashimoto, who can’t believe he’s strong in history as well.

Ayanokōji downplays it, saying it was a multiple-choice test and he simply got lucky with his guesses, but Hashimoto clearly doesn’t buy that explanation. Ayanokōji then excuses himself, saying he’s in a hurry, and leaves the area. Before he goes, Hashimoto asks what his next target is, and Ayanokōji replies that he plans to take on the science challenge next.

Karuizawa’s Group Joins Ayanokōji, Nanase, and Sudō’s Group

The group consisting of Ken Sudō, Ryōtarō Hondō, Kanji Ike, Tsubasa Nanase, and Ayanokōji ends up camping together again. While they are settling in and continuing their activities around the camp, Kei Karuizawa’s group suddenly arrives at the same spot.

Kei Karuizawa is briefly startled when she sees Ayanokōji, but quickly acts normally since their relationship is still a secret, and no one else is aware of it. She then casually comments on the situation, mentioning the fish they are cooking and suggesting that her group could join the camp as well.

Ike immediately objects, questioning why they should allow them to stay. However, Sudō steps in and tells Ike it’s not a big deal, adding that working together could help them gather information about what Shinohara’s group might be planning.

After a short exchange, both groups agree to camp together and continue the night in the same area.

Karuizawa’s Jealousy Leads to an Unexpected Kiss from Ayanokōji

Kiyotaka Ayanokōji and Kei Karuizawa meet in the forest, staying away from the others as they talk privately under a tree while holding hands. Ayanokōji asks her if anything unusual has happened over the past few days. Kei responds by bringing up the person he mentioned before, saying there hasn’t been anything particularly notable so far. She also mentions that she has been keeping records of everyone she has interacted with on her tablet. Who is the person Kei is keeping track of?

Kei then brings up Nanase, saying she heard the two of them have been spending time together. Her reaction hints at jealousy, which Ayanokōji acknowledges indirectly by telling her he doesn’t have much choice given the situation. Despite Kei still feeling uneasy, the moment shifts when Ayanokōji suddenly kisses her, before telling her to keep her trust in him.

Day 4 Begins: Emergency Alarm Triggers

On Day 4, Kiyotaka Ayanokōji and Tsubasa Nanase wake up after receiving an emergency alarm, signaling that something may have gone wrong. The alert suggests that if more than five minutes pass, the school will begin tracking the affected students’ location through GPS and send assistance.

Nanase immediately suggests the possibility of finding them before the school intervenes. Ayanokōji responds that if they are going to act, it would be better to do it with more people rather than rushing in alone. He then decides they should wake the rest of their group and coordinate their next move.

Final Thoughts

Episode 10 continues as Nanase stands out as a central point of uncertainty. Her actions fluctuate between concern, cooperation, and emotional reflection, especially around Ayanokōji and Ike. While she repeatedly shows signs of responsibility and awareness, her past hostility toward Ayanokōji still raises questions about whether her intentions are truly aligned with the group, or if she is still operating under a separate objective while staying close to him.

Key Moments in This Episode:

  • Ike’s emotional confession about Shinohara changes group dynamics
  • Nanase joins the beach flag challenge at J6
  • Nagumo reveals that the mid-game begins tomorrow with the top and bottom group rankings
  • Ayanokōji and Karuizawa’s private meeting ends with a kiss, raising emotional tension
  • Day 4 begins with an emergency alarm suggesting immediate danger or an incident

What exactly is Nanase’s real role in all of this? Is her behavior driven by genuine concern for those around her, or is she still following a deeper objective tied to Ayanokōji’s presence on the island? Is Tsukishiro already preparing the next phase of his strategy behind the scenes? And with Nagumo signaling the beginning of the mid-game, what kind of shift is about to hit the island from here?

The emergency alarm also raises another question. Nanase is the one who immediately suggests finding those in trouble before the school’s GPS tracking activates. But is this really just a concern, or something more calculated? With Kazuomi Hōsen and Ichika Amasawa completely absent from recent events, it makes you wonder if this moment is part of a coordinated move that hasn’t fully revealed itself yet. Could this be connected to a larger plan involving Ayanokōji, with Nanase acting as the trigger point while others operate in the background?

Episode 11 could finally make it clear if this is a coincidence or something planned. Will we finally see who the White Room student really is?
