Spoiler Alert: This article contains full spoilers for Classroom of the Elite Season 4 Episode 12.
Episode 12 opens with Kiyotaka Ayanokōji and Tsubasa Nanase heading toward their next designated area, E2. Ayanokōji suggests taking the safer route and going around, avoiding unnecessary risks. However, Nanase insists on crossing over the mountain instead, arguing that it will be faster since most students are also taking that path.
Ayanokōji agrees and follows her lead, but the decision doesn’t sit right. Why is Nanase so set on taking the same risky path as everyone else? Is she just trying to save time, or is there something else behind it?
Episode 11 continues the situation from where things left off, but this time, the tension starts to show more clearly in real time.
D3 Area: Nanase Fights Ayanokōji to Expel Him
At the D3 area, Ayanokōji starts to notice something off about Nanase, especially how she pushed to take the mountain route. Tsubasa Nanase admits it wasn’t about speed and reveals she led him there on purpose. Nanase then exposes her mission, saying she was sent by Acting Chairman Tsukishiro to get him expelled. She plans to injure him, trigger his alarm, and force the teachers to remove him, while making sure any retaliation would get them both expelled.
Nanase attacks, but Ayanokōji blocks everything with ease and even shows he could end the fight anytime by stopping his own strikes at the last second. He makes it clear he’s not trying to beat her physically, but to break her mentally. No matter how many times she attacks, she can’t land a single hit. The gap between them is obvious, and it only gets worse the longer the fight goes on.
At one point, Nanase claims she is no longer herself and introduces the name Eiichiro Matsuo, the son of the man who helped Ayanokōji escape the White Room. She insists that this identity is the one fighting him, not Nanase. Ayanokōji immediately rejects it, explaining that she isn’t possessed and simply forced herself to believe in another personality. That realization hits her hard, and in the end, she breaks down completely, knowing she never had a chance against him.
Yagami and Kushida Plan to Record Ayanokōji

Takuya Yagami talks with Kikyō Kushida about Nanase’s plan to fight Ayanokōji and trigger his expulsion if he retaliates. He mentions that he wants to capture the moment on a tablet as evidence. Yagami then suggests that Kushida should handle the recording instead of him.
Kushida questions why she should be the one doing it, but Yagami pushes the idea by saying it would look suspicious if a guy were the one secretly recording. People might also question why he just stood there watching instead of stepping in. He adds that if it’s a “delicate young lady” like her, she can easily claim she was too scared to interfere and only recorded it as proof.
Ichika Amasawa Confronts Kushida

As Kushida moves to spy on Ayanokōji’s fight, she is suddenly grabbed from behind, and her mouth is covered. The one who stops her is Ichika Amasawa, who claims she was just passing by and noticed Kushida acting suspiciously. Kushida immediately switches to her usual friendly persona, denying everything, but Ichika sees right through it.
Ichika slaps her twice and makes it clear she knows Kushida isn’t the harmless, innocent girl she pretends to be. As the situation escalates, Ichika even suggests using force to make her point, and when she tries to punch Kushida, Kushida manages to block it. Ichika then openly threatens her, saying she knows about her dark past and can expose everything from middle school if she reports what just happened.
Ichika’s Warning and Ayanokōji’s Connection

Ichika also reveals that she didn’t learn about Kushida from Ayanokōji, hinting that she already had her own information.
This raises the question: what exactly does she mean by that, and is she connected to the White Room in some way? She also strangely mentions Ayanokōji, saying she feels something toward him that goes beyond love, leaving her true intentions unclear.
Before leaving, Ichika orders Kushida to stay out of her way. Kushida tries to hit Ichika with a stone in her hand, but Ichika easily dodges it and puts her down instantly. She then tells Kushida that getting Ayanokōji expelled is just as difficult as beating her, and says she plans to meet him directly. As she leaves, she hints that Ayanokōji could still end up expelled, raising the question of whether she intends to make that happen herself.
Ichinose Overhears Tsukishiro and Shiba’s Plan
Honami Ichinose’s watch breaks, forcing her to head back through the forest to replace it. While walking alone, she accidentally overhears Acting Chairman Tokinari Tsukishiro and Katsunori Shiba talking. They mention that Chabashira and Mashima are investigating student records and are also connected to Ayanokōji, but Shiba claims he already altered the files, so nothing can be found. The conversation then shifts to Ayanokōji’s expulsion, with them referencing the “White Room” and planning how to handle him if things don’t go smoothly.
Ichinose hears the term White Room and becomes visibly confused, realizing she doesn’t understand what it means. Tsukishiro then casually reveals that if Ayanokōji survives until the final day, they plan to bury him in Area 12. He then suddenly looked towards where Ichinose is, and she panics and tries to run, but she trips and gets caught. When Shiba reacts, Tsukishiro stops him and warns against acting rashly. Ichinose insists she heard nothing, but Tsukishiro threatens her, even suggesting consequences for her classmates if she speaks, leaving her terrified as she escapes with a final warning that she should think about protecting her classmates instead.
Nanase agrees to help Ayanokōji against Tsukishiro
Nanase and Ayanokōji end up talking under a tree while it’s raining, as the situation finally slows down. Ayanokōji asks why she’s been targeting him all this time, and Nanase explains that it’s tied to Matsuo Eiichiro. She says she grew up alongside him and saw him as a role model, someone who was always better than her and always smiling, no matter what they lost.
She then reveals that Eiichiro’s father was involved in helping Ayanokōji escape the White Room, and because of that, Eiichiro lost everything, eventually leading to his death. Nanase says Acting Chairman Tsukishiro told her that Ayanokōji was responsible for ruining Eiichiro’s life, and promised her a chance to meet Ayanokōji’s father if she succeeded in expelling him. Even though she admits it may not be fully his fault, she says she needed someone to direct her anger toward.
Ayanokōji responds in his usual way, calmly analyzing her situation instead of denying everything outright. He tells her she used everything she had to try to take him down, but there’s a reason he can’t allow her to succeed. He also says that staying in the school is the only way he can strike back at his father, and asks her to stay and help him instead. In the end, Nanase agrees to side with him against Tsukishiro.
In the final scene, a figure is shown watching them from a distance, holding a stick. The identity is unknown, leaving a clear question: who is this person, and is it targeting Ayanokōji, Nanase, or both? Who do you think this might be?
Final Thoughts
Episode 12 starts with different plans on the island beginning to overlap as everyone moves on their own paths without fully realizing how connected things are getting. Nanase’s situation with Ayanokōji reveals more about Tsukishiro and the White Room, while Yagami, Kushida, Ichika, and Ichinose continue acting in the background with their own goals. Ayanokōji stays at the center of everything, not directly controlling events but stepping in or adjusting things when needed. By the end, it’s clear the test isn’t just about survival anymore, but about control and who is actually being manipulated.
Key Moments in This Episode:

What is really happening behind all these simultaneous movements across the island? Is this all part of Tsukishiro’s larger expulsion strategy, or are multiple independent factions already clashing without fully realizing it? Nanase’s shift changes one major piece of the board, but Ichika, Yagami, and Ichinose are still positioned in ways that could alter everything at any moment.
With a mysterious observer still watching from the shadows, the biggest question remains whether Ayanokōji is being guided toward a controlled outcome—or if he is already standing in the center of a situation even Tsukishiro cannot fully predict.
Will Episode 13 finally reveal who is pulling the deepest strings behind the White Room plan, and what role Ichika and Yagami truly play in it? Who is that mysterious figure with a stick at the end of the episode?
