Spoiler Alert: This article contains full spoilers for Classroom of the Elite Season 4 Episode 14.
Episode 14 opens with Ikuto Kiriyama and Mikitani talking about Miyabi Nagumo, and right away, they point out that he’s been struggling lately. We then see the current rankings, with the top six groups being Nagumo’s, Kōenji’s, Kiriyama’s, Ochiai’s, Mizoe’s, and Sakayanagi’s. Still, the real surprise is that Nagumo and Kōenji are basically neck and neck—something nobody expected, especially since Kōenji has never taken these exams seriously before.

Kiriyama’s group starts discussing how to deal with him by mobilizing all the groups Nagumo had previously left under Kiriyama’s control, just to slow him down, which already shows how serious the situation is. Kiriyama even admits that at this point, only he and Nagumo have a chance of stopping Rokusuke Kōenji.
If you’re confused how it got here, Episode 13 explains it.
Kiriyama’s Plan Against Kōenji

Kiriyama and Mikitani are both watching Rokusuke Kōenji from a distance, quietly observing his movements while discussing how they can actually deal with him, since at this point, he’s become a real threat in the rankings. They intend to make their move the moment Kōenji starts his travel, using that timing to catch him at his most vulnerable or at least before he can fully control the situation. What stands out here is how much attention one student is forcing from multiple third-year groups, showing that Kōenji is no longer being treated like an unpredictable wildcard, but someone they actively need to eliminate from contention.
Day 11 Begins: Kōenji Ignores Kiriyama’s Demand

On Day 11, several third-year students approach Rokusuke Kōenji while he is on the move, with Kiriyama stepping in and demanding that he stay in place for the day, clearly trying to control his movements and limit his advantage during the test. Kōenji, however, immediately dismisses them, saying he doesn’t even know who they are and that he has no reason to follow their instructions, while Kiriyama tries to convince him that it would be far more beneficial for him to side with President Miyabi Nagumo instead.
Kōenji doesn’t engage with the discussion at all and simply states that he is in a hurry before leaving, then casually jumps across the rocks with incredible speed and agility, leaving everyone stunned by how effortlessly he moves through the terrain. Despite the shock, Ikuto Kiriyama keeps his composure and tells the others to stay calm, explaining that if Kōenji keeps evading them, he’ll have trouble participating in challenges properly, and if he does show up, they can simply catch up to him anyway, showing that their strategy is to wear him down rather than directly confront him.
Kōenji’s Rest and the Short Sleeper Reveal

As the third-years finally manage to catch up to Rokusuke Kōenji, they find him casually taking a nap, which immediately frustrates Mikitani, who assumes that after shaking them off earlier, he must be exhausted. Kōenji wakes up and calmly responds that, of course, he is still human like them, but when Mikitani sarcastically suggests he should just take the whole day off, calling it advice from a senpai, Kōenji dismisses the idea as amusing and makes it clear they shouldn’t treat him like an ordinary person, adding that his stamina has already fully recovered.
Kiriyama steps in, pointing out that Kōenji has been moving through obstacles for the past ten days straight, and even with his level of physical ability, he should be approaching his limit by now, but Kōenji casually explains that he is a “short sleeper”, meaning he can maintain full health and recovery with significantly less sleep than normal people. Kiriyama immediately recognizes how serious that is, realizing it means Kōenji can effectively reset his stamina multiple times a day through short breaks alone, which completely changes how they can pressure him.
Before they can push further, Kōenji says he is heading to his designated area, and when Mikitani tries to stop him, Kiriyama holds him back and shifts the strategy, deciding they will now follow Kōenji instead and prevent him from participating in any challenges.
This moment also makes it clearer why Kōenji has been able to maintain such consistency and physical dominance, as his short sleeper trait gives him a recovery advantage that most people simply can’t match, making him even more difficult to wear down over time.
Kōenji Overpowers the Third Years
Third years continue trying to pursue Rokusuke Kōenji, but while Kiriyama suggests they stop forcing the chase and wait for a better opportunity, Mikitani refuses to back down and insists they shouldn’t let him escape again, pushing forward despite Kiriyama’s warning that he’s the one giving orders. The tension between them builds as Kiriyama questions whether Mikitani can actually handle it, and Mikitani, clearly irritated, decides to confront Kōenji directly, demanding that he stay put and even threatening that they will get him expelled if he resists.
Kōenji doesn’t take any of it seriously. He makes it clear that he doesn’t take orders from anyone, and when Mikitani tries to block him, Kōenji simply walks straight through him, knocking him down without hesitation. Moroka steps in to stop him, but Kōenji pushes past again, leaving him injured, while casually stating that he shows no mercy to those who try to halt his advance. Even when they threaten to report him, Kōenji turns it around, pointing out that they’re the ones ganging up on a single student.
Things escalate as multiple third years try to take him on at once, but they can’t even land a proper hit. Kōenji overwhelms all of them and walks away like it’s nothing, making it clear that their constant interference is just an annoyance. Kiriyama, who stayed out of the fight, realizes what just happened—Kōenji didn’t escape because he wanted to crush their morale by showing overwhelming superiority. Instead of reporting the failure of Mikitani to Nagumo, Kiriyama shifts his thinking, understanding that while Kōenji is a rogue element, this win might make him lower his guard and start seeing the third years as no real threat, which is something they can use against him later.
This moment shows just how overwhelming Kōenji really is. Multiple third years go at him, and they still can’t land a single hit. At that point, it’s not even a fair fight anymore. Feat-wise, Kōenji is already at the top in terms of physical ability in this school, and numbers alone clearly aren’t enough to deal with him.
Ayanokōji Meets Class 2-C Students
As Kiyotaka Ayanokōji is walking, he runs into a group from Class 2-C, and the atmosphere between them is surprisingly friendly compared to the tension elsewhere in the test. Daichi Ishizaki immediately runs up to him, visibly happy to see another guy around, mentioning that most of the people in their group are girls right now, which makes the situation feel a bit unbalanced for him.
Ishizaki invites Ayanokōji to join them for camping, and the others quickly agree, seemingly under the impression that he’s harmless and not someone they need to worry about.
Nanase Warns Ayanokōji: The Dropout Plan Revealed
While everyone is asleep at the camp, Tsubasa Nanase quietly approaches Kiyotaka Ayanokōji, telling him she has something urgent to share. What follows is a warning about a major plan aimed at forcing him to drop out of the test, which leads into a flashback from Day 9 involving Nanase and Kazuomi Hōsen discussing Ayanokōji’s existence and why he’s already considered beyond their level.
During that earlier conversation, their discussion escalates into a wider strategy involving multiple classes and upper-year students. Katagiri from Class 1-C arrives with a transceiver from Riku Utomiya, who introduces a plan meant to save struggling first-year groups at the bottom of the rankings. They confirm there are currently four first-year groups sitting at the bottom, with two of them belonging to their own Class D, making the situation more urgent than expected. The idea quickly expands into a full-scale cooperation strategy between all year levels, targeting isolated, single-member groups to eliminate enough competition and secure survival for weaker teams.
However, the plan takes a darker turn when Ayanokōji is identified as one of the key targets due to his solo position. Since Ayanokōji is always on the move, Hōsen cannot catch him alone. So they will surround Ayanokōji and hold him down. Sakurako Tsubaki ultimately takes control of the strategy, stating she will act as the ringleader, accept responsibility if things go wrong, and coordinate everything secretly through the transceiver without revealing timing in advance.
After hearing all of this, Ayanokōji simply tells Nanase to return to her group and act normally so she doesn’t raise suspicion, effectively ending the conversation while the weight of the plan hangs over him.
Day 12 Begins: Ayanokōji Climbs With Class 2-C

On Day 12, Kiyotaka Ayanokōji is climbing a mountain alongside students from Class 2-C, where the atmosphere is relatively calm compared to the earlier tense encounters in the test. During the climb, Hiyori Shiina asks him if he ever feels lonely doing the exam completely alone, since he doesn’t belong to any group. Ayanokōji responds that he doesn’t see it as loneliness, explaining that being alone actually gives him more freedom and flexibility to move without restrictions.
Hiyori admits that if she were in his position, she would likely feel both lonely and scared, showing a clear contrast in how they view isolation. After they reach the top, the group prepares to split up as their paths no longer align, and they exchange quiet goodbyes, reminding each other to take care before going their separate ways.
Day 13 Begins: The First-Year Alliance Sets the Trap
On Day 13, Utomiya asks Sakurako Tsubaki why their conversation is the only one not being held through a transceiver, and Tsubaki explains that he is the only person she fully trusts, so she wanted direct communication to get his unfiltered opinion. Their discussion is interrupted when Takuya Yagami arrives, saying he wants to speak with Tsubaki, but Utomiya immediately confronts him about his disappearance the day before. Yagami claims his watch broke and he simply returned to the starting point, but Utomiya points out that this is the second time something like that has happened, raising suspicion about his behavior. Before the tension escalates further, Tsubaki steps in to stop them from arguing.
Yagami then presents a tablet, revealing tracking information that matches the system Kiyotaka Ayanokōji is using, meaning they now have a way to pinpoint his exact location in real time. At this point, it becomes clear that all of them are involved in a coordinated effort aimed at getting Ayanokōji expelled, with a structured two-phase strategy:
- Plan A: Directly attack Ayanokōji and force him to drop out of the test
- Plan B: If that fails, disrupt his movement by blocking his access to designated areas so he continuously loses points
Yagami further adds that if his involvement leads to Ayanokōji being eliminated, he expects five million points from the twenty million reward, which Utomiya and Tsubaki both consider acceptable enough to pursue. However, Tsubaki reveals she already had access to the same tablet information, implying she was aware of this system and simply did not want Yagami to assume he was the only one thinking ahead.
She then takes full control of the situation, issuing orders to their allied groups: Ayanokōji is confirmed moving toward designated area C3, units in D4 are instructed to stay on standby, while groups in E6 are ordered to move north and begin forming a pincer to trap him between both positions.
Ayanokōji is also monitoring their movements, fully aware that Utomiya, Tsubaki, and Yagami have linked up and that a large number of first-years are now converging to box him in between D4 and E6.
At this point, Ayanokōji simply states that it is time to make his move—raising the question of what he will do next as the situation finally escalates into confrontation.
Final Thoughts
Episode 14 raises the tension as the island test moves closer to its final phase. The third years are now fully focused on Rokusuke Kōenji, treating him as a real threat they need to deal with before he climbs any higher in the rankings. At the same time, the first years are starting to organize more seriously around a shared goal of taking out Ayanokōji, seeing him as the main obstacle they need to remove before the test ends. With both sides targeting the strongest individuals in different ways, the pressure across the island keeps building
