Spoiler Alert: This article contains full spoilers for One Piece Episode 1162.
Episode 1162 opens with Zoro, Sanji, Usopp, Nami, and Chopper deep inside a forest, still running. They are being chased by Road, who is rapidly closing the distance behind them. As they finally reached an open area, they came upon massive trees that shocked the crew. Usopp immediately realizes that they are in Elbaph, the land he has always dreamed of seeing.
But the situation doesn’t calm down for long. Road is still right behind them, forcing a tense moment as Zoro suggests that he should just cut him down. Usopp immediately stops him, warning that attacking a giant here could cause serious trouble with the locals.
The reason they are being chased is explained in earlier episodes, including Episode 1161.
Luffy Met Gerd and Goldberg on the Bridge

Luffy heads back toward the bridge where the crew was separated earlier. That’s where he runs into Gerd and Goldberg, with Goldberg still carrying the Thousand Sunny Go. Gerd casually mentions that she likes “little humans,” but makes it clear it’s nothing like Road’s strange obsession, drawing a clear line between the two. They quickly ask Luffy if he fell into the Underworld, clearly trying to figure out what happened to him.
But Luffy remembers his conversation with Loki, specifically being told not to tell anyone about their meeting or the deal they made. And since Luffy is terrible at lying, his reaction gives everything away. He starts sweating nervously, even though it’s snowing heavily around them, making the moment both obvious and slightly comedic. Goldberg doesn’t push further and simply says he’s glad Luffy is safe, leaving the tension hanging without digging deeper into the truth.
Colon Waits at the Bar as the Giant Warrior Pirates Arrive

Colon is seen patiently waiting at a bar, clearly excited for the arrival of the Giant Warrior Pirates. He’s especially eager because he knows they are bringing Monkey D. Luffy, one of the Four Emperors, and has even heard that Shanks has been talking about him. However, Dorry and Brogy signal that they won’t be docking there. Instead, they’re heading to the Sun World, a place located higher above. Without hesitation, Colon decides he’ll be going there as well, eager to follow them. Colon is Ripley’s son, adding a small but notable detail to his background without going too deep into it.
The Straw Hats Set Sail on the Rainbow Path to the Sun World
On the ship with Dorry and Brogy, the rest of the Straw Hats finally reunite with Hajrudin and Stansen, who have just returned from hunting a giant moose. The mood changes as the crew notices something incredible in the distance — a massive rainbow stretching upward. It’s both strange and beautiful, and they soon learn this is how they will travel to the upper level of Elbaph.
The rainbow itself isn’t natural. It’s created using a special material known as a Sunstone, which allows them to form a path that can actually be sailed on. They also learn that the villages of Elbaph are located high above, built on top of a giant tree. To reach them, the crew will literally ride the rainbow upward. As the excitement builds, the Giants are talking about the banquet they plan to have later, setting a lighter and more celebratory tone after everything that has happened.
Straw Hats Set a Trap to Stop Road Without Really Hurting Him
Back in the forest, Road continues chasing Nami and Chopper, who appear to be panicking as he closes in on them. At first, it looks like they’re simply trying to escape, but their movements suggest something more planned. As Road gets close enough to capture them, the situation suddenly flips.
Zoro cuts down a massive tree, and Sanji immediately follows up with a powerful kick, sending it crashing straight into Road. The attack pins him to the ground, leaving him face down with the tree holding him in place and limiting his movement. Rather than going all out, this looks like a deliberate move from the crew. Instead of seriously injuring him, they focus on stopping him completely, suggesting they are trying to avoid escalating the situation with the giants.
At the same time, Gerd and Goldberg arrive, rushing toward the scene. They initially assume this is another enemy encounter, but are caught off guard when they see that Road is the one who has been taken down. Gerd is visibly excited upon seeing the “little humans,” reacting with genuine curiosity and enthusiasm. The crew then notices something important — Luffy is with them, sitting on Gerd’s shoulder, and the Thousand Sunny Go is safe.
With the tension gone, Gerd asks if they are the Straw Hat Pirates. After confirming, the crew introduces themselves, and Gerd tells them that they will guide them from here.
Three Layers of Elbaph and Straw Hats Reunited
Luffy, Chopper, and Usopp get too excited to wait and immediately run ahead, eager to reach the Elbaph village first. Their energy sets the tone as the journey into the giant kingdom truly begins. On the ship, Brogy explains the structure of Elbaph to the crew, revealing that the land is divided into three distinct levels:
- Astral World – the highest level, above everything else
- Sun World – the middle layer where sunlight reaches and where the giants live
- Underworld – the lowest level, where Loki was previously shown imprisoned
As this is explained, the Straw Hats are in complete awe of the scenery around them. Elbaph’s scale and beauty overwhelm everyone, with Usopp even breaking down in tears, finally witnessing the land he has dreamed of since childhood.
Hajrudin then notices Luffy, and soon the rest of the crew begins spotting each other across the distance. Franky shouts that they’ve been looking for them, while Luffy happily confirms that he’s glad to see them again. It doesn’t take long before Luffy realizes something incredible — they are literally riding on a rainbow. Usopp, Luffy, and Chopper react in pure shock and excitement, completely overwhelmed by the experience and calling Elbaph unbelievable.
Final Thoughts
Episode 1162 continues to expand Elbaph as the Straw Hats finally begin to fully experience the land of giants. While some members are still separated, the crew slowly starts reconnecting across different locations, setting up the next stage of their journey.
Key moments include:
- Road continues chasing Nami and Chopper before being stopped in a non-lethal trap by Zoro and Sanji
- Luffy meets Gerd and Goldberg
- Colon waits for the Giant Warrior Pirates and learns they are heading to the Sun World
- The Straw Hats discover the rainbow path made from Sunstone, used to travel upward
- Brogy explains the three layers of Elbaph: Astral World, Sun World, and Underworld
- Straw Hats reunite and witness the beauty of Elbaph while traveling on the rainbow
As the story shifts deeper into Elbaph’s history, a narration is heard from Louis Arnote, an explorer whose adventures are recorded in Brag Men, a book documenting tales from the Grand Line. He is known for giving Little Garden its name, and while many of his stories are considered myths by the outside world, they are still treated as historical records within the world itself.
Arnote is also said to have visited Elbaph, where he documented its vast and mysterious nature, and left behind a warning that if there is one thing to remember about the gigantic and mystic land of Elbaph, it is to not overstay your welcome. This warning raises an important question: what exactly makes Elbaph dangerous for outsiders who stay too long? Is it the environment, the giants, or something far deeper hidden within the island itself?
As this narration plays, a silhouette of a man is briefly shown observing the situation. The figure remains unknown for now, his identity hidden in shadow, adding yet another layer of mystery to Elbaph’s already growing list of secrets.
The preview for Episode 1163 shows a flashback of Nico Robin’s past during the Ohara incident, with Jaguar D. Saul also appearing in the background. This is clearly hinting at the long-awaited reunion between Robin and Saul after 22 years of not seeing each other since Ohara’s destruction. It also connects back to the last episode, where a child was seen saying that Saul had collapsed and was not moving. This raises an important question — is that just a narrative buildup or misunderstanding, or is Saul actually overwhelmed and nervous about finally meeting Robin again after so many years?
