One Piece Episode 1161 – Loki and Luffy Clash Over Shanks in Elbaph

Spoiler Alert: This article contains full spoilers for One Piece Episode 1161.

Episode 1161 opens with Monkey D. Luffy realizing he’s finally in Elbaf. He’s completely hyped, going on about how massive everything is, pointing at random stuff, and not giving Loki any chance to speak.

Meanwhile, Loki is clearly trying to say something, but Luffy keeps cutting him off without even noticing. You can see the irritation building as every attempt gets shut down again and again. It doesn’t take long before Loki finally snaps and shouts, forcing Luffy to actually stop for a second.

If you missed what led up to this, check out our full breakdown of Episode 1160.

Elbaf’s Accursed Prince and Loki’s 2.6 Billion Bounty

The episode introduces Loki with a title card naming him Elbaf’s Accursed Prince and revealing his massive 2.6 billion berry bounty, immediately putting him among the most dangerous figures in the world, but what really stands out is that he’s not shown as a ruler — he’s chained. Loki himself points out that no one wants to live bound like that and reveals he’s been imprisoned for six years, which raises serious questions about what he did or how dangerous he really is, especially when he confidently claims that he’s the strongest in Elbaf despite being locked up this entire time.

Is Loki Really the Strongest in Elbaph?

That’s where things get interesting. Elbaf isn’t just any place. This is the land of giants — and we’ve already seen monsters like Dorry and Brogy, the captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates.

So when Loki claims he’s above everyone else, you have to question it:

  • Is he actually stronger than Dorry and Brogy?
  • Is this just his ego talking?
  • Who locked up this monster six years ago?

Loki’s Deal With Luffy and What It Could Mean

Loki makes a deal with Monkey D. Luffy: if Luffy frees him from his chains, Loki will wipe out any pirate crew of Luffy’s choice, leaving nothing behind. That’s a massive statement, and if he’s being serious, it immediately puts him on a completely different level of threat and power.

But that also leads straight into a bigger question — what if Luffy actually took that deal and picked a target like the Blackbeard Pirates?

  • Can Loki actually wipe them out?
  • Or does he fall short against someone like Blackbeard?
  • How many could he actually take down?

If even part of what Loki is claiming turns out to be true, then he’s not just dangerous — he becomes a major wildcard and a serious threat to anyone operating in the New World.

The Underworld of Elbaf and the Savage Beasts

Loki tells Luffy that he isn’t forcing him to accept anything, but then immediately reveals where they actually are. This place is the Underworld, the lowest level of Elbaf. It’s described as a dumping ground for sinners, somewhere people are simply thrown away rather than imprisoned properly. Loki even says that if you dig through the snow, you’ll find the remains of giants and humans who never escaped. Savage beasts roam across the Underworld, and each mountain has its own ruler. Loki casually says he has known them since he was a child and even calls them his “friends,” but the way he says it makes it clear these are not normal allies.

He then warns Luffy that if he refuses the deal, the beasts won’t just stay passive forever. They could turn on him at any moment.

While this is happening, masked humans are seen surviving in the Underworld, wearing stinky clothing to avoid being eaten by the beasts. Shanks also comes up in conversation; one of them says he doesn’t want to get knocked out like the other day, and they question who could have predicted that Shanks would go there.

That moment instantly raises bigger questions about Shanks’ involvement and what he was actually doing there in the first place. Do those people already know Shanks, or has he been to the Underworld before? Why would Shanks even visit a place like that, and more importantly, could his presence be connected to Loki’s imprisonment?

As they are talking, Loki and the humans are shocked because the savage beasts do not harm Luffy at all. Instead, the creatures that were supposed to attack him have been tamed.

Loki Calls Shanks a Coward

Luffy asks Loki if Shanks really came there, but Loki immediately dismisses him by calling Shanks a “cowardly pirate.” The moment those words are spoken, Luffy instantly transforms into Gear 4 and launches a full attack at Loki, catching everyone off guard. The savage beasts and the others are completely shocked, but Loki narrowly dodges the attack. He quickly tries to backtrack, saying he was joking, which calms Luffy down.

Loki complains that he can’t move because of the chains, while Luffy warns him not to provoke him again or he will slam him into a tree. In Loki’s mind, however, he is already thinking that he will kill Luffy the moment he gets freed. Luffy then continues to press him about Shanks, asking why he went there, whether he came specifically to see Loki, and if he is still in Elbaph. Loki then shifts the situation, refusing to answer for free and implying he wants his freedom in exchange for the information.

Straw Hats Are Chased Across the Bridge by Giants

Zoro, Chopper, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji are still on the bridge, walking toward the end, when they suddenly notice someone running toward them. It turns out to be Road, alongside Gerd and Goldberg, with Goldberg carrying the Thousand Sunny Go. Zoro immediately steps forward, suggesting he has no choice but to cut them down, but Usopp quickly stops him, arguing that they might be allies or at least friends of Dorry and Brogy. They then realize they are already close to the end of the bridge, so the crew starts rushing forward to reach safety before anything escalates.

Should we say they’re lucky Zoro isn’t being more bloodthirsty in this situation? And if things had gone slightly differently, could Zoro have actually taken out all three of them before anyone could stop him?

Hajrudin and Stansen Hunt the Giant Moose

In the Underworld, we also see Hajrudin and Stansen taking down a giant moose, with Hajrudin commenting that the meat is superb and saying the Straw Hats will definitely like it. Alongside him is Stansen, another member of the Giant Warrior Pirates, who is revealed as the shipwright of the New Giant Warrior Pirates, showing their strength and preparation even in a harsh environment.

Stansen Was the Giant from the Sabaody Arc

Stansen is the same giant from the Sabaody Arc, specifically seen in the Auction House, where humans and other races were being sold. At the time, he was about to be sold alongside Silvers Rayleigh. He also noticed that Rayleigh wasn’t just an ordinary old man, recognizing the moment he used Conqueror’s Haki to knock out Disco, which already hinted that Stansen wasn’t just an average giant even back then.

After gaining his freedom, Stansen eventually reunited with Hajrudin and became the shipwright of the New Giant Warrior Pirates, even working as an S-Class soldier under Buggy’s Delivery before they chose to follow Monkey D. Luffy instead.

The New Giant Warrior Pirates Are Finally Fully Introduced

With this moment, the New Giant Warrior Pirates are finally being properly introduced as a complete crew, not just background characters. Led by Hajrudin, the group represents the next generation of Elbaf’s warriors, each with their own role within the crew.

  • Hajrudin — Captain
  • Stansen — Shipwright
  • Gerd — Doctor
  • Goldberg — Cook
  • Road — Navigator

This lineup shows that the crew isn’t just strong — it’s fully structured like a proper pirate crew, similar to the Straw Hats. Each member brings a specific role, making them more than just fighters and positioning them as a serious force that could play a major role moving forward.

Robin Cuts Her Hair Before Meeting Saul

In this moment, Nico Robin makes a quiet but meaningful change to her appearance as Brook helps her cut her hair into bangs. She does it because she is preparing to meet Saul, wanting to resemble the way she looked in the past when they were together.

Jaguar D. Saul is the giant who once helped Robin escape during the destruction of Ohara. Back then, despite being a Marine vice admiral, he defied orders and protected Robin, ultimately sacrificing himself when he was frozen by Admiral Aokiji. His actions became one of the key reasons Robin survived and eventually joined the Straw Hat Pirates.

Now that she knows Saul is alive, Robin chooses to bring back a part of her old self, reflecting how deeply Saul’s presence still matters to her story and why this reunion carries so much emotional weight.

A Kid Asks for Help Saying Saul Collapses

The chapter ends with a giant child running from the shore, desperately calling for help. The kid shouts, saying that Saul has collapsed and is not moving, creating an immediate sense of panic and urgency.

This raises immediate questions about what actually happened to Saul. What caused him to collapse all of a sudden, and is this connected to his long-awaited reunion with Robin? After so many years apart, did something happen the moment they were finally close to seeing each other again, or is there something deeper going on behind his condition?

Final Thoughts

Episode 1161 throws Elbaph into full chaos as Luffy realizes where he is, while Loki stays at the center of everything happening in the Underworld. At the same time, the Straw Hats are split across different situations, with Zoro asking to cut Road, Gerd, and Goldberg as the Thousand Sunny is moved through the bridge. On the other hand, Robin’s emotional moment connected to Saul adds a heavier tone, tying her past in Ohara directly back into the current events of Elbaph.

Key moments include:

  • Loki reveals his deal with Luffy and offers to destroy any pirate crew in exchange for freedom
  • Loki insults Shanks, triggering Luffy’s immediate Gear 4 reaction
  • Zoro almost engages Road, Gerd, and Goldberg
  • The New Giant Warrior Pirates are fully introduced with clear roles
  • Robin prepares for her reunion with Saul by cutting her hair into bangs
  • Saul is revealed to have collapsed, creating immediate concern about his condition

The mystery around Loki only grows, especially with why he was sealed away for six years and what level of threat earned him the title of the Accursed Prince. The repeated mentions of Shanks and his possible connection to the Underworld add another layer of intrigue, making it unclear how much he actually knows or what role he played in past events there.

With Loki, Shanks, the Underworld, and Saul all converging in different ways, Elbaph is quickly turning into one of the most complex and important arcs in the story so far.

The preview for Episode 1162 shows the Straw Hats still running as they make their way toward the village of Elbaph, with Luffy and the East Blue Five finally reunited. They are overwhelmed with excitement, fulfilling a long-standing dream they had since the early days of their journey, while Usopp even ends up crying.
