Classroom of the Elite Season 4 Episode 5 – Ayanokōji Finally Gets Serious

Spoiler Alert: This article contains full spoilers for Classroom of the Elite Season 4 Episode 5.

Class 2-D Questions Ayanokōji’s Perfect Score

Episode 5 opens with Class 2-D arguing right after the results are released. Nobody can understand how Kiyotaka Ayanokōji managed to score a perfect 100 on a test they believe was far beyond normal high school level and basically not meant to be solved, which is why some of them start suspecting he cheated, especially since his OAA isn’t that high.

Ken Sudō steps in and tells them to stop making accusations without proof, saying it’s unfair to talk like that when Ayanokōji isn’t even there, even though some students question whether he’s just defending him. Sudō insists he’s not taking sides, only that he believes Ayanokōji earned the score on his own, but the class continues to push back and points again to his low OAA compared to the result.

In the end, Sudō suggests that maybe Ayanokōji has simply been holding back all along, similar to how Kōenji Rokusuke does. If you missed how this situation built up, check out our breakdown of Episodes 1–4.

Horikita Explains Ayanokōji’s Hidden Ability

Teruhiko Yukimura questions how Kiyotaka Ayanokōji managed to score a perfect 100 in math, pointing out that even top students like Ichinose and Sakayanagi didn’t reach that level. Before Ayanokōji can fully respond, Suzune Horikita steps in and takes control of the conversation.

Yukimura insists on hearing it directly from Ayanokōji, but Horikita says she understands the situation better. She explains that at the start of the class, when they were seated next to each other, it became clear that Ayanokōji is actually academically gifted. From the beginning, he has shown strong academic ability but deliberately held back his performance at her request.

She adds that keeping his scores average was a strategy to avoid drawing attention from other classes, since standout students often become early targets. Now that Class 2-D is more stable and united, revealing his ability actually strengthens the class and makes them harder to deal with.

Yukimura still isn’t fully convinced and questions whether math is his only strong subject, but Horikita refuses to elaborate further, leaving Ayanokōji as an even bigger unknown to the other classes.

Sudō Starts to See Through Ayanokōji’s Strength

Ken Sudō brings up that it was actually Suzune Horikita who told Kiyotaka Ayanokōji to hide his academic ability, and Ayanokōji confirms it without going into much detail. Ayanokōji tells Sudō that he heard from Yōsuke that Sudō had defended him earlier, but quickly says he wouldn’t call it taking sides, just stating facts, showing how much calmer and more logical he’s become compared to before.

Sudō then questions whether Ayanokōji is also hiding his fighting ability, while Ayanokōji plays dumb, Sudō grabs his arm and says he must be at least on Hōsen’s level, asking how strong he really is. Ayanokōji avoids answering directly, and Sudō eventually lets it go, saying he’ll judge it for himself later. Before leaving, Sudō says he’s no longer focused on others and just wants to improve himself instead, showing clear growth in his mindset compared to before. He then casually asks if Ayanokōji and Horikita are dating, which Ayanokōji quickly denies, and they both leave shortly after.

Who Is Responsible for the 20 Million Point Bounty?

Kiyotaka Ayanokōji briefly thanks Suzune Horikita for her earlier judgment in handling the situation with the class, but the conversation quickly shifts into something more serious—the 20 million private points reward tied to his expulsion. They start questioning who would even set something like that up, with suspicion leaning toward Student Council President Miyabi Nagumo.

Ayanokōji says he isn’t sure and can’t understand why Nagumo would target him specifically, but Horikita explains the connection between Nagumo and her brother Manabu Horikita, saying Nagumo saw him as a rival, and Manabu’s focus was always on Ayanokōji. She then mentions her intention to meet Nagumo directly, planning to join the student council so she can observe his reaction and gather more information about his possible involvement in the situation.

Horikita Meets Nagumo to Join the Student Council

Suzune Horikita directly tells Miyabi Nagumo that she wants to join the student council, with Vice President Ikuto Kiriyama also present during the conversation, catching him off guard as he admits it’s unexpected and says it makes him hesitate to accept right away. When Horikita points out that he should take all the help he can get, Nagumo responds that she’s a special case and asks for her reason:

  • She had an unresolved conflict with her brother Manabu Horikita in the past
  • Even after entering the school, their relationship didn’t improve
  • She never had a proper conversation with him before he graduated
  • This made her curious about the student council he dedicated himself
  • She now wants to follow the same path he once took
  • Her goal is to eventually become the student council president

After hearing her out, Nagumo accepts her request and welcomes her into the council. As they shake hands, he then asks Kiyotaka Ayanokōji if he plans to join as well, but Ayanokōji declines without hesitation, saying it’s not his kind of role.

Ichika Interrupts Ayanokōji and Kei’s Moment

Kei Karuizawa spends some quiet time with Kiyotaka Ayanokōji, even making coffee for him since his hand is injured, but the conversation quickly turns personal as she admits she doesn’t like how their relationship might be seen as a “status” thing because of his recent achievements. Ayanokōji responds casually, and the moment softens as Kei admits she finds him attractive, leading to the two of them almost kissing before they’re suddenly interrupted.

That moment is cut off when Ichika Amasawa shows up unannounced, claiming she was worried about his injury. Ayanokōji tries to brush her off since it’s late, but she quickly reveals that she has been watching and even followed Kei back to the dorms, exposing that he’s been lying. Despite the tension, she manages to get inside, joking about whether they were up to something inappropriate before presenting a boxed “gift,” which she calls either a present or an apology. But what exactly is inside that box?

Ichika admits she was working with Hōsen and had a role in the plan to get Ayanokōji expelled, shocking Kei, who had no idea about any of it. She then brings up the 20 million point bounty, telling Kei to ask her boyfriend if she wants answers.

Ichika claims she isn’t his enemy and says she only helped set things up so he would realize the plan in time, giving him a fair chance instead of letting him be expelled without a fight. As Ayanokōji listens, he realizes how fast her mind works and begins to suspect that she might be connected to the White Room, though he questions what she would gain by revealing herself like this. After that, Ichika casually leaves, brushing off Kei’s reaction and making the situation even more unsettling.

Nanase Reveals the Test Is Still Ongoing

Kiyotaka Ayanokōji runs into Tsubasa Nanase on the street after a while of not seeing her, and she immediately apologizes, saying she feels guilty about what happened during the previous events and even asks if he resents her for it. Ayanokōji replies calmly that he has no reason to resent her, since it was just part of a special test aimed at expulsion and nothing personal, then asks her directly if that test is already over.

Nanase explains that it is still ongoing and will last until the second term begins, then subtly asks if he is curious why neither she nor Hōsen has made another move against him. Ayanokōji admits he is curious, and Nanase explains that after the last incident, she realized a normal day-to-day approach would not work against him.

When Ayanokōji suggests she is waiting for a special inter-year test, she does not confirm it, but instead brings up a recent expulsion of a first-year student from Class 1-C, saying it made her realize how fragile school life is. She ends by saying she intends to live a school life without regret, and also hopes Ayanokōji can do the same.

Sae Chabashira Reveals the Deserted Island Survival Game

Sae Chabashira announces to the class that their upcoming summer vacation will take place on a luxury liner for eight days and seven nights, where students are told there will be no special tests during the trip itself. However, she quickly changes the tone by revealing that before they can even enjoy it, they must survive a major special test.

When Suzune Horikita asks when the test will happen, Chabashira explains that instead of being before or after the trip, this one will take place during summer break itself. The class is then informed that the test will be a deserted island survival game, setting the stage for a physically and mentally demanding challenge where students will likely be pushed into extreme conditions and forced to compete for survival and points rather than comfort or relaxation.

Final Thoughts

Episode 5 slows things down on the surface, but underneath it, multiple threats and strategies are quietly moving into position. Kiyotaka Ayanokoji becomes the center of attention after his perfect score, while suspicion spreads inside Class 2-D, and the idea that something bigger is being planned starts taking shape.

Key Moments in This Episode:

  • Class 2-D starts doubting Ayanokōji’s perfect score, with some even suspecting cheating due to the extreme difficulty of the exam
  • Ken Sudō defends Ayanokōji and shows clear character growth through more logical thinking and calm judgment
  • Horikita explains that Ayanokōji’s ability was intentionally hidden as part of a class strategy to avoid early targeting
  • Ichika interrupts Ayanokōji and Kei right before they almost kiss, revealing involvement in the 20 million point bounty and hinting at deeper manipulation behind the scenes
  • Sae Chabashira announces the deserted island survival special test, marking the start of a high-stakes survival arc

The biggest question now is simple: what happens when the deserted island survival test begins, and who will actually control the situation once it does?

What rules will define the deserted island survival game?
Will classes form alliances or turn on each other immediately?
Who is the White Room student hiding inside the school?
And will Ayanokoji be able to identify it before they make their move?

Episode 6 is expected to fully shift into the survival arc, where planning, deception, and psychological warfare will decide everything.
