Spoiler Alert: This article contains full spoilers for One Piece Episode 1159.
Episode 1159 opens with the angry masked giant chasing the Straw Hats through the strange block-like world, as they escape riding the giant cat named Iscat. Luffy tells Iscat to jump, pointing out that whoever built this place clearly put effort into it, so there’s no need to wreck everything just to get through, although that choice doesn’t go perfectly, as the landing goes wrong and lets the masked giant close the distance again, forcing Luffy to immediately tell Iscat to keep running as it obeys without hesitation.
If you’re still catching up on how the crew ended up in this situation, you can check out our breakdown of Episode 1158.
Nami Memorizes the Map Instantly

While they’re still escaping, Nami suddenly throws away the map she picked up earlier. Usopp is confused, but Nami casually reveals she already memorized everything. That’s exactly what you’d expect from the future Pirate King’s navigator. This moment matters because it shows the crew is no longer just reacting — they now fully understand the layout of this fake world.
Zoro and Sanji Break the Giant Net Trap
Right as they’re about to gain distance, the masked giant uses his staff to create a massive net. He reveals something important here — this Block Kingdom was originally a Cell for Giants. After multiple attempts, he finally succeeds in trapping the Straw Hats and Iscat. But it doesn’t last long as Zoro and Sanji step in immediately:
- Zoro slices through the net
- Sanji follows up with a powerful kick
Together, they destroy it, and the crew escapes again using Iscat.
The Masked Giant Warns About Glutbunny the Ear God
During the chase, the masked giant warns them about another threat ahead — a massive carnivorous rabbit called the Glutbunny, also known as the Ear God. As he brings it up, the humans from this world mention that the creature supposedly died earlier today in a fire under mysterious circumstances.
This is the same rabbit that Luffy and Sanji already defeated and cooked back in Episode 1158.
What Is Hajrudin’s Relationship With the Masked Giant?

Things get more interesting when the masked giant suddenly brings up Hajrudin. Hajrudin is one of the New Giant Warrior Pirates and also a member of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, alongside Cavendish, Bartolomeo, Sai, Ideo, Leo, and Orlumbus. The masked giant mentions that while Hajrudin speaks highly of “you,” he does not.
- Is he talking directly to Luffy?
- Or the Straw Hats as a whole?
- And more importantly, what is his relationship with Hajrudin?
Since Hajrudin is part of Luffy’s Grand Fleet from Dressrosa, this connects the situation in Elbaf directly to known allies.
Usopp Attacks the Mirror Wall
Usopp uses Green Star: Skull Bomb Grass to destroy the mirror wall ahead. The attack works, shattering the mirror and even destroying parts of the surrounding structures. But there’s a problem. Behind the mirror is an even thicker wall, something closer to solid cement. The masked giant said that it’s impossible to break out of there.
The Crew Starts Planning a Counterattack
Meanwhile, Nami asks Usopp if natural disasters are nobody’s fault, and Usopp agrees, mentioning things like earthquakes, floods, and lightning, saying no one gets blamed for those kinds of events, as if Nami is trying to frame their situation in a way that avoids unnecessary destruction of the fake world.
She also points out that they’ve just gone through a terrifying experience, though she can’t hide how annoyed she is at the masked giant. Usopp agrees with her but still says that since he’s a giant, they shouldn’t rush into hurting him.
Sanji, on the other hand, is also pissed! not just because of what’s happening, but because he suspects the masked giant may have even changed Nami’s clothes, which pushes him over the edge and makes him declare they’ll get him. With tensions rising, the question becomes whether this is finally the moment for the Straw Hats’ counterattack.
Road and Hajrudin of the New Giant Warrior Pirates
We then get a flashback showing Muginn, flying the Thousand Sunny, revealing how the Straw Hats were transported to this place while they were unconscious. From there, we also see a giant figure who finally explains how they ended up in this situation. It’s then confirmed that the masked giant is actually part of the New Giant Warrior Pirates alongside Hajrudin, and his name is Road.
Road reveals that he was so angry when he heard Hajrudin had become Luffy’s underling. We also see a brief interaction between Hajrudin and Road, where their conflict over this decision is made clear. Even though Road is a member of the New Giant Warrior Pirates, he clearly rejects the idea of serving under a human, claiming that Elbaph warriors are the strongest in the world and questioning why they should follow someone he sees as inferior, saying they have no pride left.
As the flashback continues, Road is shown grabbing Luffy while he’s asleep, commenting on how small and weak he looks in his defenseless state. He then picks up Nami as well, calling her his “new favorite,” before using a sleeping powder on the crew, saying he’ll let them sleep a little longer, ensuring they remain unconscious.
Nami Fights Back Using Zeus Against Road
As dark clouds form, Nami finally attacks using Zeus. She unleashes a lightning strike directly at Road. Usopp immediately calls her out for going too far, but Nami just laughs and calls it Divine Retribution. Usopp then said that it was clearly Nami and that she should stop playing dumb.
Luffy Destroys the Block Kingdom using Mini Gear 4
With no other way out, Luffy decides to finish it. He activates a Mini Gear 4, enlarges his arm, and prepares a final attack. Then he launches Gum-Gum Kong Gun straight at the wall. The wall completely shatters, finally breaking the barrier in front of them. With the path now open, the Straw Hats can finally see the outside world of this so-called “Block Kingdom.”
Final Thoughts
Episode 1159 throws the Straw Hats straight into a nonstop chase inside the Block Kingdom as they try to escape the masked giant known as Road of the New Giant Warrior Pirates. As the situation escalates, they deal with multiple traps, including a giant net and a reinforced barrier that seems impossible to break, while slowly uncovering that the entire area is a controlled environment built to contain them.
Key moments include:
- Road of the New Giant Warrior Pirates is revealed as the masked giant chasing them
- Usopp destroys the mirror wall, only to find an even stronger barrier behind it
- Nami and Zeus vs Road
- Luffy destroys the final wall using a Mini Gear 4 Kong Gun
- The escape route to the outside world is finally opened
This episode leaves a lot hanging. Who exactly is Road, and why does he seem so connected to this artificial Block Kingdom? What is his real goal in capturing the Straw Hats, and what does the New Giant Warrior Pirates have to do with all of this? And most importantly, are they already in Elbaf?
The preview for Episode 1160 teases a major shift in focus as Luffy enters a forest area where he might encounter Loki, the Accursed Prince.
